Kadin D: Hunger Games

I think that Katniss is determined. Katniss is determined to keep herself, and later on, her teammate Peeta alive through the Hunger Games. She shows her determination by promising her sister Prim that she would return alive. Katniss promising Prim shows her determination of trying to win. Later, in during the actual Hunger Games, Katniss tries everything in her power to survive against other tributes, strange weather, and deadly creatures. Katniss preserves through most every challenge in the games, therefore, Katniss wants to win, and is determined to do so. When Katniss forms an allegiance with Peeta, she protects him from harm, and tries to keep him alive. A big moment where she does that, is when they find out there is medicine in the arena. Peeta badly needs that medicine, but he is not strong enough to fight for it. So Katniss takes a huge risk, and goes to get the medicine herself in order to keep Peeta alive. Because Katniss went through all the fear and danger to keep Peeta living means she is determined. Another way Katniss shows her determination to survive is when she makes good choices for herself and Peeta. A good choice she made was when she decided to disinfect a severe wound Peeta got. Even though disinfecting it put Peeta through a lot of pain, he would have died from an infection. Katniss also makes the choice of not hunting down other tributes, but letting Peeta rest (he needs rest because of his wound.) Katniss made a smart choice to let Peeta recover, and that shows she is not giving in/giving up. Not giving up shows determination to win the games… in other words, her and Peeta's lives.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Being brave means to protect someone or to do something that everyone else is scared of doing. Katniss is very brave because she has saved many of the lives of others and herself, for example Katniss saved her sister by substituting to go into the hunger games, She was the first one to substitute in many, many, years. Another way Katniss was brave was when she saved Peeta’s life when they were getting attacked by wolves that the gamemakers had sent after them and Katniss risked her life by being in the middle of the wolves to save Peeta from not being killed. The last reason Katniss is brave and she has saved yet another persons life was when Peeta was being hunted by the other kids in the arena and he was about to die when Katniss found him, she got him and nurtured him back to full health and mended his leg.

Katniss and Melody (From Out Of My Mind) are both very scared at times but they usually bounce back. For example: Melody was scared when her sister Penny got run over by a car but she bounced back when she new that Penny only had a few injuries she bounced right back. Same for Katniss, Katniss was scared and sad that Rue died but she knew she needed to win for Rue and she bounced right back.

Melody and Katniss are also very similar because Melody is also very brave, for example: Melody is special but she is still fighting to get on the quiz team and do what other normal kids are doing, she is very smart and she is making many friends. That’s why Melody is brave like Katniss.

Summary:

A Wrinkle in Time is about a girl name Meg Murry a high-school girl who went on an adventure to find her dad with her brother Charles Wallace and a friend named Calvin. Meg’s dad was working on a project call tesseract (a wrinkle in time). There was another planet in the universe that Meg’s dad was working on, but he got caught there, they wouldn’t let him get out.     

One night there was an old lady come to Meg house in the dark, stormy night, her name is Mrs. Whatsit. She told Meg that she knew where Meg’s father was. Then she disappeared when she went outside. Meg and Charles Wallace went to a small house where no one lived . And there they met Calvin.  There they met Mrs. Who, she is an old lady who helped them find Meg’s dad.

    Explain your song choices:

1. I chose “In the End” by Linkin Park because the song is about no matter how hard you try they still drop you, they don’t care about how far you go they just feel like it doesn’t matter. So it’s like Meg Murry, she tried and she is very smart at math, she could do it quick in the easy way and short, but the teacher in the school told her that she needed to write more and needed to show how it worked and she had to do it like the way they teach.
2. Second I chose the song called “Firework” by Katy Perry. I chose the song  because it’s about how you have to stand up and never give up. There always is a door leading you to the perfect road but you have to wait and never give up. It’s like when Meg didn’t have many friends but she still had Charles Wallace to play with and always on her side. And when Meg’s brother Charles Wallace had been controlled by the man with the red eyes. At that moment Meg explained to Charles Wallace and wanted him to remember everything, but he couldn’t because the man with red eyes so powerful. That’s why Charles Wallace couldn’t get out of that control. Meg went to another planet with her father because they were in the dangerous situation so Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, Mrs. Which used their magic and turned Meg, Meg’s father and Calvin to another time. So they couldn’t rescue Charles Wallace, but Meg wanted to save her brother as fast as she could. Finally she went back to the place that Charles Wallace had been control alone and rescued him.
3. This song called “Waiting for love”. So the song is about waiting for love every day and so it liked Meg waiting for his father. The love that song talked about can be anyone, I mean love for your mom, family, animals……. so Meg and Meg’s mother were waiting for her father also at the last part Meg said to Charles Wallace about she how much she loved him and wanted him to come back and to recognize everybody.

I am Number 4 is the first in a ongoing series with amazing characters story and more. The two main characters are John Smith and Henri Smith. They are aliens from the planet Lorien which has been attacked by the mongolians, so they had to send 10 children to earth to grow and gain their powers so they can go back to Lorien and take back their planet. Along the way John meets the love of his life Sarah Hart. But have way through their journey number 6 joins them

1 On The Road Again this is the song for the book and i pick this because John and Henri are always on the road.

2 Mad World this is for John because up until the middle of the book  he was sad and the reason way is he never stayed in one spot for more than 2 months.    

3 The regulator this song was for Henri and the places they had to stay because Henri was always up and working and the houses they stayed in they always made it a bunker.   

4 Happy this song is for Sarah and the reason way i picked this song is because sarah is always happy.   

            

5 White and nerdy, this song is for Sam because in the beginning of the book Sam was that one nerdy kid no one liked, but after a while sam became pretty bad butt, so this song is more for the beginning of the book.

I chose Radioactive for multiple reasons. First off, in the song, the singer specifically quotes “Welcome to the new age” and I think that relates to how the the world main characters are “new” people, because they have altered DNA. They also are powerful compared to normal humans in that they can fly, and the song feels empowering and talks about “Waking up” and feeling powerful.

The flock connects to the next song, Immortals, in a bunch of different ways. The song repeats the word “Immortals” many times, and even though they aren’t immortal, they escape from tons of tight situations, and even when you think they will die for sure, they end up escaping and are fine after a few days. This also can refer to the fact that the flock heals extremely quickly, so if they get injured, they will be fine in a few days. In the song, the singer says“I try to picture me without you but I can’t.” and that applies to the flock because they always try to stick together and even when one leaves, they come back after a while.

Can’t Hold Us represents the flock because the ceiling literally can’t hold them. They have wings and can fly, so the ceiling can’t hold them from flying. Also, the bad guys in the book always catch them, and when it seems hopeless, they always escape and turn out fine, so the bad guys ceiling can’t hold them. Finally, the song and the book are both very fast paced.

The song that best represents the book as a whole is Skyfall. Skyfall is a good theme for the book because the song is about the world ending, and Maximum Ride needs to lead the flock to save the world. Max is also usually never happy, and Skyfall is a sad song.

My first song is by Adele, it’s called Don’t You Remember. This song made me think of how Lena is mourning Alex’s death, she’s very sad and depressed about it and seems to always bring up Alex in her mind. No matter how hard she tries, she always remembers Alex.

And my second song is Lean On Me by Bill Withers. I thought this would be a good song because of the way Julian and Lena really do depend on each other as they fight for their freedom in the tunnels as they’re trying to escape from the Scavengers. Even though Julian is a model citizen and Lena is quite the opposite, they learn to depend and help each other out. Julian saves Lena’s life and Lena saves his, even though, once again, they are completely opposite in their beliefs and Julian could have ratted Lena out but he didn’t.

I picked this song because it made me think of when Julian and Lena are fighting the Scavengers in the tunnel and trying to escape. There were many deaths in that scene and they were fighting for their lives and this relates to the song Skyfall because that song is kind of sad and slow and it almost seem as if you slowed down that scene and put music to go with it it would fit perfectly.

My inference is that Julian’s father is a horrible father. I believe this because Julian says that when his father found out that Julian knew about the secret room filled with banned books he said his father beat him the most he has ever been beaten. Julian also said his father accidently killed Julian’s brother by leaving him in a room by himself for awhile because his father was very mad at his brother. Whether Julian’s father had meant to kill his brother or not, he is still the murderer of his first son. And that is my inference and three songs for the second book in the Delirium series “Pandamonium” By Lauren Oliver.

The delirium series is set in the future where love is considered a disease. When you turned 18 you get this surgery done which cures you from the disease. It cures you from having strong emotions like love and being mad ect. The main character's name in the first book is Lena. She lives with her Aunt and Uncle and her two kids. The are pretty poor in her town but her best friend Hana has a huge house and lives in a totally different part of town. Lena as she calls herself is a pretty average person. She’s 5:2,has pretty average weight, is not really pretty like Hana but not ugly, and she’s smart but not really smart.
